Once again our Kurdish friends in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, are paying a high price in their struggle for their freedom and ours. Rockets rained down Monday (February 15) on the city, which remains one of the front lines against barbarism. The chief target was the airport where the international coalition’s forces are stationed, but some of the fire fell on a residential area. The toll: one civilian dead and several seriously wounded. Responsibility for the attack, which was obviously aimed at inflicting a large number of casualties, was claimed by an unknown Shi’ite group referring to itself as Awliyaa al-Dam.
JFK condemns this attack that violates the laws of war. Beyond that, this latest outburst from continually recrudescent terrorist groups, whether directed remotely from Iran or resurgences of ISIS, clearly demonstrates what, by now, should be evident: the West, with the United States in the lead, must stage an urgent, forceful return to the area and should bolster the courageous fighters of the Peshmerga and the Syrian Democratic Forces in Rojava.
The war against terrorism is not over. Kurdistan remains isolated, the surrounding mountains its only allies. People of the United States, people of Europe, let us once again take up the path to Erbil and Qamishli in Syrian Kurdistan. It is the path of the global war against terrorism.

Une fois de plus, nos amis kurdes d’Erbil, plus que jamais en première ligne contre la barbarie, paient au prix fort leur combat pour leur liberté et la nôtre. Des roquettes se sont abattues ce lundi sur la capitale du Kurdistan irakien. Elles ciblaient l’aéroport où sont stationnées les forces de la coalition internationale, et ont touché également une zone résidentielle. Le bilan : un mort, et plusieurs blessés graves dans la population civile. Ces attaques qui visaient à faire un grand nombre de victimes ont été revendiquées par un groupe chiite inconnu qui se fait appeler Awliyaa Al-Dam.
JFK condamne cette attaque contraire à toutes les lois de la guerre. Mais au-delà, cette nouvelle semonce de la part des groupes terroristes, éternellement renaissants, qu’ils soient téléguidés par l’Iran ou des résurgences de Daech, démontre, s’il en était besoin, que l’Occident, Amérique en tête, doit faire d’urgence retour en force sur le terrain, aux côtés des vaillants Peshmergas et des FDS du Rojava.
La guerre contre le terrorisme n’est pas finie. Le Kurdistan est toujours aussi seul, avec les montagnes pour amies. Reprenons, Occidentaux, le chemin d’Erbil et de Qamishli au Kurdistan syrien. Le chemin de la guerre contre le terrorisme.
