The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) led by Masoud Barzani is ahead in the Parliamentary elections, as the KDP got 25 seats so far in the region, followed by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Jalal Talabani with 16 seats, well-informed sources said on Sunday.
The sources pointed out that Gorran Movement (Movement for Change) acquired 6 seats, while the Democracy and Justice Coalition led by Barham Salih got 3 seats, so as the Kurdistan Islamic Union.
The Kurdistan Islamic Group led by Ali Bapir got 2 seats, and the New Generation headed by Shaswar Abdul Wahid also got 2 seats, the source added.
In a joint statement, four Kurdish parties, including Gorran Movement, justice and democracy coalition, Kurdistan Islamic Group and Kurdistan Islamic Union said they rejected the parliamentary elections that took place in all governorates of Iraq, while demanding the repeat of the whole process in Kurdistan and the disputed areas.
Legislative elections in Iraq started on May 12th. The integrity of this elections is questionable. Clerics and politicians say fraud will happen due to the control of militias over the polling centers.
