JFK launched at US Congressional screening of Peshmerga

On March 6, 2018, Justice for Kurds was launched with a screening of Bernard-Henri Lévy’s film Peshmerga on Capitol Hill for United States Senators, Congressmen, White House officials, leading scholars at Washington’s think tanks, the media and the Kurdish community.

The evening was hosted by Senator Roger Wicker, Congressman Ralph Abraham and the Kurdish Regional Government Permanent Representation.

Congressman Chris Stewart of Utah and Congressman Ralph Abraham insisted on the necessity of supporting the Peshmerga in the face of ISIS and Congressman André Carson spoke about the duty of all citizens of good will to take on the burden and pressure elected officials to speak truth to power and fight for what is right.

KRG Permanent Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman welcomed film director Bernard-Henri Lévy who reinforced his insistence that the international community’s shameful betrayal of the Kurdistan in fall 2017 was a strategic and moral mistake. Following the film, Lévy delved further into the subject with Dr. Bilal Wahab, scholar at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Lévy called on all to speak out in support of Kurdistan, stating: “It is our turn to help our brothers in spirit. They deserve our support. Their rights must be recognized.”
